Your Lifeline for IEP Goal Tracking

Want to know one thing that makes my teacher heart happy? Feeling organized with all the DATA! DATA…DATA…DATA!

Data tracking is something that we will never be able to escape in education, especially in special education. So, might as well get on board with it and find an organizational system that fits you! Data collection on student IEP goals does not have to be hard or time consuming, but you do have to find a system you enjoy and stay consistent. Consistency is KEY!

This is where my goal tracking binder came from. I was super overwhelmed my first year teaching, well first couple I should say. I was trying to learn all the things, I was inheriting student IEP’s I didn’t write, trying to track data, oh yeah and TEACH! It was like a big puzzle that had tons of missing pieces and I felt like I would never get it complete.

I have always been a binder kind of girl. A binder for this and a binder for that. If it was in a binder, it made me feel organized, even if it was not.. haha!

So I started a IEP goal tracking binder. Each of my students had a tab and behind that tab was all their data forms. It started out a complete mess, if I am being honest. I was not sure what tracking system would work best for what student, but after some trial and error I was able to modify the forms and find a system that worked best. Once my caseload grew I created a folder for each student with the forms and kept my binder as more of my class/ caseload overview of data.

I also found a new love of allowing my students to help track their IEP goals. They had different graphs and after an assessment or direct instruction time they would be able to track their progress on their goals. This was a visual for them and also great data collection for me.. WIN WIN!

Here are a couple more examples of forms you can find in my IEP Goal Tracking Binder. You are also able to write or type on the forms. Depending on how you use them, both ways allow for easy and fast data tracking.

You also have the option of editing some of the forms. Type student goals directly on forms and add and delete rows. Not all the forms allow for this due to the nature of the forms, but a lot do!

Also, if you are needed some assessments that are easy to align and track with student IEP goals, these Assessments for IEP Goal Tracking are for you! I have a bundle that included my IEP Goal Tracking Binder and IEP Assessments! Find it HERE
