Social Story about Four Day School Week

Many districts around our area are piloting at four-day school week. When I first heard of the news, I wanted to know more behind the why and the research that was associated with the change.

I have read about the the potential this change can have on student engagement, academic performance, and overall well-being. With a shorter week, the thought is students are more likely to approach each day with a renewed sense of energy and enthusiasm.

Honestly, I can see the pros and cons for both lovers and haters of the change. Currently, our district is not piloting this change, however I am finding smaller surrounding districts are.

One of my biggest questions would be about the impact on working parents and the need for reliable childcare on the day when students are not in school. Will day-cares open on Fridays for school aged children?
